Club General Manager

2 Mar 2019 by Darren Smith

To the Cobra family,
Over the past 5 years we have taken a number of steps to continue our very positive growth as a club.

This period has seen:
• 2016 BFL Senior Premiership
• 2017 BFL Senior Runners Up
• 2017 Reserves Runners Up
• 2018 Reserves Premiership
• Senior football teams all consistently playing finals over that time
• Cobra Netball teams back in the finals, culminating in 2018 with 4 of our 6 teams including our A Grade play in the finals
• Establishment of a Women’s football team that has played finals consistently including Runner Up in 2018
• Establishment of a Club 18s (3rds) team in 2017 that were Runners Up 2017 and 2018
• Continued growth of the Junior club with a Premiership in our 16 Reserves in 2017 and a number of our other teams playing finals
• Many individual awards and achievements of our Footballers, Netballers and Coaches across the Seniors and Juniors,
• Significant infrastructure improvements including the new Deck area, new electronic scoreboard, canteen and kitchen upgrades, new lights at both Maddingley Park and Siberia and in the coming weeks, further refurbishment of both the club rooms and change rooms.

We sincerely thank all our committee and officials, members, sponsors, volunteers and supporters, and our Partners including the BM Cricket Club who have helped with any or all of our projects and generally throughout the club, we couldn’t have achieved any of this without all of you.

There is a very simple message – “We’re not finished yet.”

We have long understood that the work required to get the whole club (Football, Netball, Juniors, Seniors, Male and Female) operating on a shared vision, heading in the same direction, to build on where we are at today, remains paramount and is ever increasing. What is apparent is the need to do this work during the business day is greater, making it more and more difficult for volunteers already working full time.

It is time for the next step in our journey, it’s one we’ve considered and discussed for many years and it is a bold one – it’s time for us to appoint a full time General Manager.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that effective immediately we have appointed Adam Sutherland as the General Manager of the BMFNC.

In addition to that role Adam will also take on the role of Football Manager including the development of our Junior program.

Adam will bring all the passion and enthusiasm he has brought to all the roles he’s performed, and we will all continue to benefit.

Please join me in congratulating Adam.

As a result of Adam becoming General Manager he will step down as President.

Accordingly, and with the support and mandate of the committee, I will step into the role of President.

I’m pleased and proud to take on the role and with Adam, look forward with the help of all our committee, players, coaches, members, sponsors, business partners and supporters – the Cobra family – to making this next bold step a success.

Tony Barber
President – BMFNC
